I'm Michael Millar, a well rounded Technical Designer, showcasing a diverse portfolio that highlights my passion for creating games and my technical expertise.

 

I am currently undertaking a Masters in Professional Practice after completing my BA(Hons) in Game Design and Production.

I have a diverse array of skills,  including a specialty working in Unreal Engine.

These projects showcase my diverse skillset and my expereince making games for PC, Mobile and Virtual Reality - single and multiplayer.

Black Mass

3rd Year Group Project

A subversive first person horror game, where players must explore an abandoned, haunted orphanage in search of their friend, but beware, you are not alone.

2nd Year Group Project

A vertical slice of a Third Person Survival, Crafting Adventure game, where players must explore a picturesque island environment.

The Inverdale Case

Honours Project

A multimedia murder mystery. Players must cipher through physical documents and a digital recreation of the victims mobile phone to uncover the truth about what really happened, and find true real killer.

Goodbabies

Masters Programme

You are an informant embedded deep within the Bambino Crime Family, AKA the Baby Mafia. You must blend in at their underground card tables while secretly recording incriminating speech using the baby monitor on your chest. If you lose the card game, fail to record enough evidence, or raise too much suspicion, it’s game over and you’ll be napping with da fishies.

About me

I am a highly skilled and passionate Technical Designer. I am currently undertaking an MProf in Professional Practice. 

 

I am passionate about creating immersive experiences, combining creativity with technical proficiency to create compelling gameplay for players. I am extremely driven and reliable, pouring my heart and soul into delivering for teams and players. 

During my time at University, I have sought out every opportunity to develop my skillset. I want to be able to add as much value to the development of games as possible, so I have taken on many roles, and developed a diverse array of skills - from programming, to UI Design, to Sound Design. This has given me a well rounded understanding of the roles of all team members which provides me a strong platform to discuss workflows, facilitate and align implementation, and to overcome challenges and issues facing development.  

I view creating games as my life's purpose. Everything that is worthwhile in this world is about other people, and games have the capacity to create joy. This is why I want to make games in the first place. I want to create experiences for players that offer an escape from the trials and tribulations of their daily lives. 

Countless games have provided this gift to me. A gift from many thousands of passionate game developers. A gift I would love to pay forward.
