This was the third of three game-jams that were part of the 4th year content at university. The brief for this game was to make a game that conveyed the conflict that arises between stakeholders regarding how to best use green spaces.
Our group decided to go for a swipe based choices game in the vein of games like 'Reigns'.
I have extremely strong experience making games in the Unreal Engine for mobile platforms, so the group decided this would be a feasible project given the three week time constraints.
The game focuses on balancing the wants and needs to multiple stakeholders. These being, Dogwalkers, Gardeners, Cyclists and Luxurists. Each of these groups have their own opinion of what should be done regarding the green spaces in town, but you, the player, as the newly elected mayor of Greenville must decide what is built.
My role on this game was heavily focused on technical design, given my extensive experience making similar games. I was also heavily involved with almost all aspects of this project and acted as a mentor and facilitator to the group through assisting artists and designers while working in Unreal Engine.
This game was selected by the year group tutors as one of three winning games.
